How to Connect RevenueStack to Stripe

Stripe identifies your connected business account with an Account ID and authenticates API requests with a secret key. Use a restricted key when its permissions can cover the RevenueStack workflow; otherwise use a standard secret key only in the server-side integration.

Credentials RevenueStack requires

Before you start

You need a Stripe account with permission to create API keys and access the account whose products and prices RevenueStack will manage. Decide whether you are working in sandbox/test mode or live mode before copying values.

  • Test-mode keys only work with Stripe test data; live keys work with live data.
  • Create a dedicated key for RevenueStack and record which environment it belongs to.
  • Never paste a publishable key (pk_) into the RevenueStack secret-key field.

1. Stripe Secret Key / Restricted Key

A Stripe secret key authenticates server-side API calls. A restricted key begins with rk_ and lets you select resource-level permissions; a standard secret key begins with sk_ and grants broad access.

  1. Sign in to the Stripe Dashboard and select the correct account and mode.
  2. Open Developers → API keys.
  3. For least privilege, choose Create restricted key, name it for RevenueStack, and select only the Products, Prices, and related subscription/catalog permissions required by your approved workflow. Use write permissions only if the integration will deploy changes.
  4. If a restricted key cannot support the required RevenueStack operations, create or use the standard secret key shown under Secret key instead, subject to your organization’s security policy.
  5. Reveal or create the key, then copy it immediately into a secure credential manager and into the authenticated RevenueStack application.

sk_live_••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2. Stripe Account ID

The Account ID identifies the Stripe account that owns the products, prices, and subscriptions. It normally starts with acct_.

  1. In the Stripe Dashboard, open Settings.
  2. Open Business → Account details (the exact grouping can vary by Dashboard layout).
  3. Copy the Account ID beginning with acct_. You can also confirm it in the account selector or the URL/API response for the connected account.
  4. Make sure the ID matches the same Stripe account and mode as the API key.

acct_1ExampleOnly

Connect Stripe to RevenueStack

Use the secret or restricted key and Account ID together in the separate RevenueStack application.

  1. Paste the Stripe secret or restricted key into the API key field.
  2. Paste the acct_ value into Account ID.
  3. Save or test the connection.
  4. Import a small catalog or run a read-only check before authorizing any write operation.
